Checklists

Planning a catered meal, whether a simple lunch or an elaborate dinner, should not take up any more of your time than a phone call or two.

The following are a few questions you should have answered before calling the caterer:

  • What is the date of the event?
  • What time are guests arriving?
  • What time are they expected to eat?
  • Is it a working lunch or dinner?
  • Do you prefer a cold or a hot meal? (Remember that a hot meal will require more attention!)
  • Are there any special dietary requirements?
  • Is it a "full service" meal requiring wait staff?
  • Do you require rental? (e.g., glassware, china, cutlery, linen, etc.)
  • What about beverages? (e.g., soft drinks, juices, wine.)
  • What is your budget?

 

Do not hesitate to ask for clarification if something is unclear. Remember, the caterer should simplify your job, not complicate it.
